Every Y&S Shields window is CNC cut from polycarbonate to a chassis specific template. This guide covers the materials we offer and what to know before you install.

Polycarbonate, not glass

All of our windows are polycarbonate, a lightweight and virtually unbreakable plastic used in motorsport. We do not sell glass windows.

Shipped flat

Windows are cut flat and are not pre formed. The polycarbonate takes the shape of your car as it is installed.

Thickness

  • 1/8" (thinner and lighter)
  • 1/4" (thicker and more rigid)

Shades and grades

Regular polycarbonate: Clear, 35% tint, 20% tint and Blackout.

MARGARD MR10 (scratch resistant): Clear and 35% tint. MR10 has a factory hard coat that resists abrasion, UV, yellowing and hazing. It is scratch resistant, not scratch proof.

The tint is built into the material itself. It is not a film and will not peel.

Installation tips

  • Professional installation is recommended.
  • Windows ship without holes so you can choose the number, size and placement of your hardware.
  • If you use bolts or screws, we suggest nylon lock nuts on the back so you can adjust the tension.
  • If you use rivets, drill slightly larger than the rivet to allow for expansion and contraction with temperature changes.
  • Customers have had good results with window adhesive, rivnuts with Allen head bolts, rivets and industrial Velcro.
  • Windows do not include a black border. You can add one yourself if you would like the factory look.
  • Test fit every window when your order arrives, before removing the protective film.

Shipping

Every order is made to order, and most orders ship within 7 business days. You will receive tracking by email as soon as it ships. Every order ships with tracking and insurance. Production begins once payment is received, and an order cannot be changed after production starts.
